• Usually best to uncheck the Auto-Select checkbox, which selects and moves what you are hovering above. This is convenient if you have very few layers but becomes awkward with many layers. When it is off, the Layer that moves is the one selected in the Layers panel. You can temporarily turn it back on by pressing CMD.
